Beond is building a new sales team to accelerate the growth of their Zero Carbon Project, which aims to solve climate change by rewarding consumers for switching to zero carbon energy. Their proprietary Zero Carbon Market can deliver cost savings to consumers while switching them to their choice zero carbon energy technologies including Beond’s own proprietary ‘Green Moments’ pure renewables offering. It is not essential to have energy industry experience.

We are looking for a target driven, commercially aware individual to help generate new opportunities for the public sector and commercial teams at Beond. You will start in a lead generation position, which is designed to equip you with all the skills required to become a fully-fledged client facing consultant. It is expected that you will graduate to consultant level after 18 months, possibly sooner. During the initial 18mths period you will be part of the following learning and development framework;

Months 12-18 will be focussed on developing your consulting skills as you evolve into a client facing consultant. By this stage you will have;

  • Developed strong lead generation and qualification skills
  • Developed skills to unmask clients’ needs/pains
  • Have a solid understanding of UK energy market fundamentals
  • Have a solid understanding of Beond’s services
  • Have experience of the tender process
  • Have experience of client facing meetings
  • The confidence to develop their own portfolio of clients

At consultant level, you will be given a portfolio of clients to support as well as separate growth targets in line with the business’s objectives. Prior to this, you will develop your skills in the lead generation role for the first 18 months.

Main duties include

  • Cleansing data and sourcing new leads in the relevant target markets
  • Targeted calling to non-domestic energy consumers to assess their appetite to use our services
  • Setting up qualified appointments where there is tangible interest in our services
  • Work with the marketing and sales teams to create and run targeted campaigns
  • Achieving daily and monthly KPI targets
  • Following up unsuccessful or rescheduled calls
  • Keeping up to date notes on the company’s CRM system (SalesForce)
  • Attending prospective client meetings with the relevant consulting director, when appropriate
  • Work with the relevant consulting director to put together high quality and professional proposals when appropriate
  • Full commitment to the learning and development framework and keeping up to date on market news.

KPI’s

  • Number of leads cleansed
  • Cleansed data completion percentage
  • Number of demo’s booked and delivered
  • Number of meetings booked and delivered
  • Demo/appointment setting quality ratio
  • Number of bills/letters of authority received

Base salary will commence at £25k with the prospect to increase rapidly as skills are developed and the ability to deliver is demonstrated. Additionally you will be offered an attractive incentive commission structure from commencement.

Beond is growing its existing sales team to accelerate the growth of their Zero Carbon value proposition, which aims to solve climate change by rewarding consumers for switching to zero carbon energy. Beond’s Zero Carbon Market proprietary software can deliver cost savings to consumers as well as sourcing cost effective energy and carbon reduction technologies. 

You will be an integral part of our sales & marketing team reporting directly to the Commercial Director. You will be required to source and win new clients who typically spend over £500k per annum on energy. You will not be required to own/renew clients or deliver the services sold. It is not essential to have energy industry experience. It is essential that you have the will and the skill to acquire new clients.

Job Purpose: 

  • Work with the lead generation team to respond accordingly to qualified opportunities, thereafter own the full sales life cycle through to the close.
  • Ensure any new clients are on boarded effectively
  • Creation of your own contact strategy and marketing plan to develop a new business pipeline.
  • Management of key sectors and agreed regions to identify industry associations, referral partners and other organisations who can support our sales growth.
  • Manage and update the SalesForce CRM database with accurate and timely information to enable effective pipeline management
  • Close & contract new business in line with Beond’s pre-defined pricing and contracting principles.
  • Drive forward service innovations and new opportunities identified from liaising with prospects and new clients.
  • Support the business in developing thought leadership content.

Key Requirements: 

  • A minimum of 5 years selling professional services and/or software driven solutions.
  • A track record of securing new business deal sizes worth £50k+
  • Highly competent proposal writer
  • A very good understanding of commodity markets.
  • Proven new business track record of delivering in excess of £200k of annualised new business revenue consistently. (evidence to be provided)
  • Self-motivated individual comfortable in working independently with a demonstrable level of creativity and innovation.
  • Capable of UK wide travel to meetings.
  • Strong network of contacts and relationships.
  • Ability to consider, construct and develop sales relationships.
  • Able to identify and leverage “avoid the crowd” sales strategies.

We help our clients deal with energy challenges in a rapidly changing and complex market as new regulations and
technologies are introduced in response to global climate change. Our service helps businesses keep their energy costs
as low as possible within this complex environment.

This role sits within the Tendering & Service Delivery Team, and will provide analyst support to the consultants within the
commercial team. The role aims to train the job holder with a view to developing a broad and deep knowledge of the
energy industry, giving the job holder the requisite skills and knowledge to progress into client-management as a
consultant after 2 years.

The first year will focus on managing tenders using Beond’s reverse auction software platform, where the job holder will
need strong analytical, and communication skills to:

  1. Manage supplier participation
  2. Ensure accurate and timely cost comparisons in fast-paced environment
  3. Produce summaries to be presented to clients by consultants

In addition to running the auctions, analysts are responsible for managing registrations and termination/notice (process for
switching our clients from one supplier to another), as well as providing support for senior service delivery analysts
especially during off-peak periods. During this role the job holder will also develop an understanding of wholesale
commodity markets and key price drivers.

The second year will focus on managing services for our clients (while continuing to help support more junior analysts in
the business), giving the job holder exposure to dealing with client requirements and commercial account management via
a steep learning curve. The job-holder will be expected to run various periodic reporting and analysis on behalf of Beond’s
clients, as well as liaising, communicating and resolving client issues internally with consultants, plus externally with
energy suppliers, recording all issues and tasks in an issue management software package for reporting work delivered
back to clients.

In order to carry out these responsibilities it will be necessary to develop strong relationships with energy supplier contacts
to facilitate the prompt resolution of contract management and bureau issues. It will be essential to have a desire to
provide a high-quality customer service, to be pro-active and have creative problem-solving abilities to resolve complex
issues promptly.

Key Skills & Experience

A minimum of 2 years of utility industry experience or someone with university qualifications and a keen interest in energy
and environmental markets.

  • Self-starter, highly organised with strong time management skills
  • Strongly client focused with a desire to provide service excellence
  • The ability to juggle the requirements of multiple clients at the same time
  • Have a capacity for hard work, will persevere to make progress and deliver results
